Li Po (701-762) is considered one of China's greatest poets. In the time of rebellion and war that began in 755 and toppled the government, Li Po drowned, according to legend, attempting to embrace the reflection of the moon in a lake.

The experience of driving alone in the dark jelled into a painting one night on Route 495

This painting was inspired by the spectacular rhythmic terrain of southeastern Washington that Len drove through in September 2005.

This is an abstraction of the land Len saw in southeastern Washington. It's a continuation of the larger painting he had just completed of the same scene (Eastern Washington State).

These five paintings were done from the window of Len's studio. They began as a windy and heavy March snowstorm blanketed everything. The last painting, May Time, is the explosion of the soft colors of May.

LEN GERWICK PAINTINGS

The artist Leonard Gerwick has used his skills in a most profound way, since the mid 1960's. Besides being a career puppeteer, he has pursued painting seriously and continues to show and sell his art throughout New England and Massachusetts. Any one who enjoys his creations can buy his paintings at the studio located in Marlborough, Massachusetts.

The customer is able to buy these paintings directly from the studio, or through email and telephone conversations. Lenny believes it is important to interact with a customer in a personal way and is willing to show his work at any time a request is made.

MASSACHUSETTS-MOONLIGHT-LANDSCAPES

The colorful landscape paintings of Len Gerwick depict the light and terrain of Massachusetts.  They are interpretive fine art creations of the subtle and changing colors of New England.

In the moonlight paintings such as Night for Wilis , Len also depicts a dark patch of New England woods. The other moonlight paintings evoke the nineteenth centruy Romatic view of a nightscape.  Giselle is a moonlight fantasy with the major characters of the ballet portrayed in the moonlit setting.

The two paintings of the west are abstracted lanscapes of the brilliant and arid terrain of the North American far west.
