April 22, 1997. The painting was inspired by the Kyrie from Missa L’ami beaudeshon of Josquin DesPrez (c.1450-1521). I read the painting from the bottom left beginning with the orange rectangle. I follow across to the small brown square at the far right. Then I go to the above “line” or progression of shapes and start with the brown rectangle on the left. I follow across until I reach the horizontal gray rectangle. Then I follow the wavy light green line to the first of the four elongated rectangles above. Acrylic on cotton, 60X18 inches, $1000.00.
